So You Want To Be An Aztec?
Step 1: Research
You have probably figured out by now that college is a major step in your life. The worst thing you can do is rush the decision. Take your time and be sure that the SCHOOL is the right fit for you (www.sdsu.edu). Once you've done that then, and only then, are you ready to evaluate the Lacrosse Program.
Step 2: Evaluate The Program
Get out and see one or two games if possible. Email the coach before attending to see if you can speak with him following the game (realize that this might not happen as coaches are very busy and distracted on game day). If you get to speak with him briefly, great; if not at least you got to see how the team flows on game day. See if you can attend an open house and/or in season visit. Remember, most college teams run a short fall season which may be the best time for you to stop by. Read more about the Aztec Team by clicking the "Team" link.
Step 3: Start the Official Contact
Now it's important for you to present yourself professionally. Don't be shy about asking your current high school coach and/or parents for help with making contact with the coaching staff. We have an open contact policy here at San Diego State but some teams may not be so accommodating (by rule, or lack of time). Get on the team web site (thankfully you are already here) and follow the instructions for submitting your information.
Step 4: Submit All Requested Information
Now that you are ready to become an Aztec Lacrosse Player its time to get your factual information to Coach Holman. There are two ways to do it: on line or by mail. Either way, we ask that you do not send in incomplete forms. This will only delay the evaluation process.

Step 5: Waiting for a Reply
Every effort is made to reply to you within a week. However, that really depends on the time of year. During the summer and fall months Coach Holman has more time to focus on recruiting and paperwork. From mid January to early May we are "in season" so his time is focused on the current team. The best thing to do is to be patient and keep a look out for that first email letting you know that everything has been received. After that you may be contacted by Coach Holman, one of the Assistant Coaches, or an Alumni who helps with recruiting. You should feel free to ask questions to whomever it is that makes contact with you. If they don't know the answer then they will get back to you with the information.
Step 6: Set Up an Overnight Visit
If you are truly committed to making San Diego State one of your top 2 choices then we invite you to visit overnight. You will be paired up with a current player to follow him to class, attend a practice, and stay overnight in the dorms or campus housing. We need at least 3 weeks to set this up so please plan accordingly.
Thanks again for your interest in the program and we look forward to welcoming you to campus!
